Benefits of Pilates for Horse Riders

Classes focus on stretching and lengthening those commonly tight riding muscles and strengthening the core muscles which help us to achieve a more efficient and stronger seat. We also work on body awareness and balance which helps us to find our centre and use our bodies more symmetrically. This helps reduce one sidedness transferring down to our horse and affecting their balance. We do this by focusing in on areas of weakness which in turn helps improve our rider fitness and endurance so you can get more out of your time in the saddle. This will improve rider effectiveness and performance to allow for clear and effective aids, avoiding unnecessary movement, thus helping maintain a consistent light contact with the horses mouth and the ability to adopt a correct position in the saddle with a seat independent of the reins, for a happy horse.
